Longtime Manhattan, JC car dealer Dick Edwards dies - WIBW
Jul 27, 2019WIBW) -- Longtime Manhattan auto dealer Dick Edwards has died. A visitation for Edwards is set for Sunday, June 9, between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. at Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, 1616 Poyntz Ave., in Manhattan, according to his obituary. A Celebration of Life Service will be held the following Monday, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 2900 Kimball Ave., in Manhattan. Edwards’ family told KMAN he passed away on Sunday. He is survived by his wife, Janice, and their three daughters. Edwards got into the car dealership game more than fifty years ago, on May 13, 1963, according to the Dick Edwards Auto Plaza website. It was definitely a red-letter day for his family, not just because it was the start of a new career, but because that was the day his daughter, Tanice, was born. He moved to Manhattan with his wife and daughters in 1981 where he opened Dick Edwards Ford. Seven years later, he opened his location in Junction City. Dick Edwards Auto Plaza opened in 2013, uniting six dealerships under one roof. According to KMAN, Edwards sold the Manhattan Ford dealership and it has since been renamed Flint Hills Ford. ...
